Eavestrough, soffit & fascia in Collingwood

Your gutters are the drainage system for the whole roof. We size them for spring melt and snow country, not the southern-Ontario minimum.

Why eavestrough fails here

Every spring the same physics play out on Collingwood homes: months of snowpack melt in a few warm weeks, and the entire roof's worth of water has to leave through the eavestrough. Undersized trough overflows at the corners, dumps water at the foundation, and is a big reason basements here get damp in March and April. Ice load also pulls poorly hung trough off slope, so water pools instead of draining and the freeze-thaw cycle levers the hangers loose a little more each winter.

The fix is not complicated, it is just rarely done: 6-inch seamless trough on solid hangers, oversized downspouts placed where the water actually is, and extensions that discharge well away from the house.

What we install

Seamless eavestrough

Aluminum trough run on site in continuous lengths, in the colour that matches your trim. 5-inch or 6-inch, hidden hangers, sloped correctly to the downspouts.

Gutter guards

Micro-mesh guards that handle maple keys and needles without icing shut. One install, no more ladder weekends.

Soffit & fascia

Vented aluminum soffit feeds your attic ventilation, capped fascia protects the sub-fascia from rot. Usually done together with new trough.

Repairs & realignment

Re-sloping sagged runs, resealing joints, replacing crushed downspouts, and adding downspout extensions that actually move water away from the foundation.

Replacing the roof too? Eavestrough is cheapest done in the same mobilization as a roof replacement. Ask for the combined quote.

Eavestrough questions

How much does new eavestrough cost in Collingwood? +

Most full replacements run $1,600 to $4,500 depending on the length, number of storeys, and whether soffit and fascia are being done at the same time. Seamless aluminum, formed on site to your exact lengths, is the standard we install.

Are 5-inch or 6-inch gutters better here? +

For most homes we quote 6-inch with oversized downspouts. Spring melt in this area moves a lot of water fast, and steep or metal roofs shed it even faster. The cost difference is small; the overflow difference during a March thaw is not.

Do gutter guards actually work? +

Good ones do. Micro-mesh guards keep maple keys, pine needles, and leaves out while letting meltwater through, which matters on treed lots in Collingwood and Thornbury. Cheap snap-in screens tend to ice up and collapse; we do not install those.

Is eavestrough related to my ice damming? +

Partly. Gutters full of ice are a symptom; the cause is heat loss melting the snowpack. But undersized or sagging eavestrough makes the problem worse by holding water at the fascia. We look at the whole eave, roof edge, ventilation, and trough, rather than just swapping the metal.
